NHS Kidney Care has published ‘Summary of the Evidence on Performance of the Patient Activation Measure (PAM).’

This report provides a summary of evidence on the performance of the Patient Activation Measure (PAM) as a tool for measuring patient activation. NHS Kidney Care has commissioned 23 trusts across England to implement and embed care planning processes, and will be using the PAM in 18 of these trusts to evaluate patient activation as the projects progress.

This week’s Publication of the Week is our how-to guide ‘Solo dialysis: More freedom and control for patients living alone.’

More patients are choosing to dialyse at home. It is known to have significant clinical and psychological benefits for patients and is more cost effective for the NHS. In the majority of units it has often only been an option for patients who live with a carer. However, this is changing as an increasing number of renal units support solo dialysis for patients who live alone.

Our 'Achievements Report' highlights our key work and achievements during 2011-12, and outlines priorities for the coming year.

'Reference costs for kidney transplantation – Review of data quality and action plan for improvement' summarises our work to review the quality of reference cost information related to kidney transplants in 2010/11, and to identify specific areas for improvement.
